This sized leather elephant with his trunk pointing downwards is suitable as a footstool or occasional seat. The tusks are made from ivory leather and the ears are edged with wire to keep them “flapping”! The elephant was originally introduced by Dimitri Omersa in the early 1960’s when it was sold exclusively through Liberty’s for approximately 10 years. The word “LIBERTY” can be found embossed on the inside of the ear of these older pieces. For a picture go to “Owners Club” and select “Animal Hospital” where there is a picture of Nellie, a “Liberty” elephant. The product is made by Omersa from British cowhide leather. Inside the leather there is a metal and wooden frame firmly surrounded by woodwool; the woodwool is hand worked to give the shape of the animal. Once assembled, the leather is stained to give an “antique” effect in mahogany brown, then waxed and polished to give a luxurious finish.

Older products have the 'Liberty' stamp embossed on the inside of the ear. This product is handmade by Omersa using British cowhide leather. Inside the leather, a sturdy metal and wooden frame surrounds the woodwool, which is hand-worked to create the shape of the animal. As it is used, the leather acquires an antique feel, and waxing and polishing gives it a luxurious finish.

OMERSA uses leather as a natural material, and treats natural wrinkles and scratches as a unique characteristic, without acrylic coating the surface, in order to preserve its natural expression. Therefore, wrinkles and scratches will be present in the product as part of its natural appearance. As it is used over time, the color will deepen and become more lustrous, and scratches and wrinkles will become unique characteristics of the user. Since the surface is not coated, there is a possibility of color transfer. Please be very careful. Also, as it is very vulnerable to moisture, if water or moisture gets on it, gently wipe it off with an unnecessary cloth. Preparation for color fading repair: Use a water-based, permanent repair agent. Wipe off any dirt with a cloth moistened with lukewarm water.
