A vintage collection manufactured in the 1960s-1970s by Lauscha Glass in East Germany.

This flower vase features beautiful, vibrant yellow glass crafted with Lauscha blown glass. Its round form is charming, and its sophisticated design is distinctive. It is also unique as an objet d'art, with its delicate appearance making it one-of-a-kind, possessing both fragility and strength.

*Lauscha is a small glass town in the Thuringian Forest in eastern Germany, where people have lived and worked making glass for over 400 years.

In East Germany, industry had its own unique system, with state-owned enterprises called VEB established in various regions, and each region had different industries.

This product is a thin and delicate glass vase made by a glassblower in Lauscha, Thuringia, where the glass industry flourished, between the 1960s and 1970s. Its streamlined, futuristic form reveals the space-age design that was popular at the time.

Also, although it cannot be definitively determined due to the lack of an inscription, it is possible that it was made by the renowned glass artist Albin Schaedel or in his workshop, based on its style.

Albin Schaedel

Schaedel was an innovative Thuringian glass artisan with an international reputation.

He came from a family with a 200-year tradition of glassmaking, and his father was a lampwork bead maker. He worked as a glass bead maker in his father's workshop, began his apprenticeship in 1924, and from 1927 worked as a journeyman under Edmund Müller in Neuhaus.

In 1952, he passed his master's examination and was recognized by the glassblowing master and visual artist association's examination committee.

Schaedel was a highly experimental glass artist. He refined and developed assembly techniques (the "skull technique") into sophisticated art, such as the design of vessels blown in front of a lamp. He was one of the most productive and influential glass artists of his time.
