Leather animal series produced in the 1960s by DERU (Deru), a German workshop that existed from 1950 to the early 1970s.
The workshop manufactured leather toys as teaching materials in the 1950s and supplied them to German schools, etc., but in the 1960s, it began producing these animals with complex structures.
"DERU" animals, crafted using excellent techniques of cutting, bending, pressing, and riveting from a single piece of undyed leather, became a collectible item with collectors around the world, re-evaluated for their charm in later years after the workshop disappeared and a long time passed, and nicknamed "German ORIGAMI".
