This Fat Lava vase, of unknown origin, was made in West Germany during the 1960s-1970s.
Its unique form, with protruding edges on both sides, and the roughly raised glaze create a striking, sculptural presence.
The thick glaze applied to the entire piece solidifies like lava, creating a textured surface. A base of gray to black, blended with turquoise green, paints a powerful, organic landscape characteristic of Fat Lava. The relief decoration on the body and the asymmetrical form reminiscent of a handle and spout strongly reflect the experimental design spirit of West German ceramics from that era.
While practical for arranging flowers, it also has a presence that makes it a focal point in any space, even when simply displayed as an object. It complements mid-century, vintage, and industrial interiors well, and is highly recommended as a collector's item.
While the manufacturer's mark is not visible, this is a distinctive vintage ceramic vase that fully embodies the charm of the Fat Lava style, symbolic of West German ceramic culture from the 1960s and 70s.
Although it is a good vintage item with no cracks, chips, or breaks, as it is a vintage item from the 1960s-1970s, there may be some wear, minor scratches, and uneven glaze due to age. Please understand this as part of its character before purchasing.
*Please understand that vintage items are historical items and are used goods. Also, due to the nature of ceramics, there are small pores, so there is a possibility of water leakage due to age-related deterioration. We recommend using it for decorative purposes only.
*While we strive to photograph the product as close to the actual color as possible, please understand that the color may differ from the actual product.
